Whether in our own lives or in our organizations, we often want to make a meaningful change. We want to help ourselves or others or both. And, sometimes, we act. But almost always, we run into resistance, which can be hard, frustrating and leave us feeling demoralized. So more often, we sit tight.
How can we be more effective? How can we understand ourselves enough to bring personal change? How can we understand others to bring about the change we seek in our workplaces or other organizations that we seek to improve. It starts with rethinking conversations. Having conversations in new ways and inviting others to do the same. Adaptive Dialogues is here to help you rethink how you work with others, renewing your sense of purpose, your conviction that change is possible and giving you a means of bringing yourself and others along with you.

If you’ve come here thinking of making a career change in your life, I know some of what you’re going through. I’ve made my share of changes and I know how difficult they can be. I also know how isolating they can feel.
Career changers often look around at the folks who seem to have it all figured out and wonder some version of, ‘What’s wrong with me?’ The reality, though, is that not everyone has it figured out, even many of those who appear to.
Discovering a sense of fulfillment and purpose in our work is a very human struggle, and if you’re wrestling with questions of identity,
you’re in good company.
Feeling supported by others and learning in the company of others is a critical part of any change process.
That’s the reason I’m building a community of people who support one another.
With that in mind, I’m especially a fan of our in-person Discussion Groups where people come together to do just that. And if you can’t come in-person, Portraits in Change is our online version, which attempts to share simple stories of growth and transformation and seeks to inspire people with ideas for change.
But we also present the full reality of career changes. That is, the difficulty and the stories of failure. We’re not here to paint a pretty picture, but rather an authentic one that captures both the rewards and the pains of change. I hope you will grow from the experiences captured here and I look forward to learning more from your journey.
